The Benoit’s Cove Indian Band is excited to announce that we have been awarded three Little Free Libraries through Little Free Library’s Indigenous Library Program! These libraries will be placed throughout our communities to encourage reading, share stories and make books more accessible to everyone. One located at Clarke's Brook, another installed in Frenchmans Cove and one more location yet to be announced.

What Is a Little Free Library?

A Little Free Library is a small book-sharing box where anyone can take a book to enjoy or leave a book for someone else to discover. The idea is simple: “Take a book, share a book.”

The libraries are free to use and open to everyone. There is no library card, checkout process or due date, and you do not need to donate a book in order to take one. Once you have finished reading, you can return the book to a Little Free Library, pass it along to someone else or share another book for others to enjoy.

We hope our libraries will have something for readers of all ages, from children discovering the joy of reading to adults looking for their next favourite book. They will also provide an opportunity for neighbours to connect by sharing books they have enjoyed.

Meet Our Library Steward

Sarah Catherine will be the steward for our first three Little Free Libraries. She will help care for the libraries and support this community book-sharing initiative.

Book Donations Are Welcome!

We welcome books for readers of all ages, including children’s books, novels and nonfiction. Please donate books that are clean, in good condition and ready for someone else to enjoy.

Once the libraries are set up, you can donate books at any time by placing them directly inside. If you have books to donate now, email us and we will make arrangements for Sarah to get them.

Thank you for helping us fill these little libraries with stories, knowledge and opportunities to discover something new. Together, we can share the joy of reading throughout our communities, one book at a time!

Special Thank You to Shane White and Micheal O'Keefe for the help with installation.
